Tiffany James is the Director of Student Success at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC). She also serves as the Principal Investigator for the College’s Conexiones Title V Grant program, implementing activities and supports primarily focused on the personal and academic success of Latino male students enrolled at BMCC. She is currently pursuing her Ed.D. in Community-Based Leadership at the College Of Staten Island (CSI).
In both work and research contexts, Tiffany seeks to learn with and from marginalized students to develop community-based critical epistemologies that point toward transformative futures. Her aim is to foster learning spaces that center student/community histories, experiences, assets, and concerns. Her current research considers emergent patterns among the memorable learning experiences of Black and Latino males in formal and informal contexts. Her ultimate goal is to redesign community college and other learning spaces to match the needs of the students these institutions serve.
