Patricia Hughes, Ed.D.

Guest Research Fellow

Patricia W. Hughes is a retired professor of education. Hughes received her B.M. and M.M. from Western Michigan University with a focus on instrumental music. After several years in the profession, she earned her Ed.D. from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.

She served as consultant in the Ohio Department of Education serving Ohio’s public charter schools from 1998 to 2005 where she provided technical assistance to the founder and administrators of Concept Schools. The Buckeye Community Hope Foundation challenged her in 2005 to start up their Charter School Division and she served there until 2011. Dr. Hughes also taught music overseas in Bahrain and in South Korea.

Transitions both large and small have always been an area of interest and concern for Dr. Hughes in her educational practice. Therefore, it is with great enthusiasm that she is engaged in research into the experience of educational and life’s transitions as part of the Future Institute Research Center.
